Alberta J. Harmer

Alberta J. Harmer, 93, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at her home in Topeka.

She was born October 11, 1932 in Franklin Township near Marysville, the daughter of Albert and Elnora C. (Blocker) Hoffman. She graduated from Marysville High School.

Alberta worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for thirty-two years.

She married Robert “Jim” Rowland. They were divorced. She married Paul Harmer on December 24, 1962 in Marysville. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1986.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Joshua Harmer and her sister, Geraldine Hoffman.

Survivors include two sons, Bob Rowland (Deena) and Jon Harmer (Dianna), all of Topeka, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt. A dinner will follow at Westlake shelter house at Gage Park. Burial will be later in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Topeka.
