Andrew Lee Trent, 70, of Hiawatha, with family by his side, left this earthly life for his heavenly life, Friday, December 5, 2025, at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS.

Andy is what he like to be called, was born at Russellville, Kentucky, January 29, 1955, one of three children born to Herbert and Mary Frances McCormick Trent.  His parents both died at a young age and he was raised in a Christian home, which is where Andy received his education, graduating in 1973.

He enjoyed being a handyman:  helping people out when they most needed it….wanted to be of service to them.  In later years, he was BCDS's  'go to guy', whatever needed to be done, he did.  He liked to joke around and to make people feel at ease.  He was a friend to many with a soft spot for dogs. Andy was very patriotic and had served in the military a few months.

Andy enjoyed fishing, hunting, taking care of animals, flowers, bird watching, and DJ-ing for different celebrations and dances in the area.  To say that he liked John Wayne…was a vast understatement!!

Andy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Hiawatha.  Andy was dedicated to his community:  was a volunteer fire fighter with the Hiawatha Fire Department; volunteer for the Brown County Relay for Life, the Brown County 4H Fair, and also with Special Olympics.  He enjoyed bowling himself was had taken 'kids' or clients from BCDS bowling.

He married Debra Windle, September 1, 1979 in Topeka, KS.    They lived in Kansas City, MO several years before moving to Hiawatha in 1981.  They enjoyed taking vacations together all across the United States. She survives.  Other survivors include his sister Judy Trent.  Since Andy's family passed away at an young age, he was close to Debbie's family.  His father in law Don Windle, siblings: Roger Windle (Susan), Tanya Ziegler (Rusty), Kim Feighner (Jeff), Scott Windle (Rosa), with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronnie Trent, mother in law Georgia Windle, sister in law Sandra Kistner, and nephew Barry Windle.

A Celebration of Andy's eternal life is planned for 2:30 Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha, with Pastor Brian Holle officiating.  Inurnment at a later date at the Albany Cemetery, north of Sabetha.

Friends may sign the register book Thursday and Friday at the funeral home from 10-until 5 p.m.
