OZAWKIE – David Roscoe Jones, 82, of Ozawkie, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at his home.

He was born February 8, 1942, at Pawnee City, Nebraska, the son of Verne and Claire Jamison Jones.  He graduated from Seneca Public High School in 1960.  He received his Bachelor's Degree from Pittsburg State University and his Master's Degree in Mathematics from Emporia State University.  His minor was in Industrial Arts.

David had taught school and coached for eleven years.  He then started his career as a life insurance agent and financial planner, which he did for forty-eight years.  He was a recipient of the LUTCF Award.

He was a member of the Grantville United Methodist Church and Perry Masonic Lodge No. 415, A.F.&A.M.

David married E. Marie Allen on February 17, 1962 at Sabetha.  She survives, of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and one sister.

Other survivors include a son, David "Bo" Jones (Lezlee), Topeka, two daughters, Angie Husted (Scott), Manhattan and Lori Jones, Meriden, one brother, Terry Jones, Manhattan, one sister, Mary Leighty, Overland Park, seven grandchildren, Alicia, Dana, Bailey, Kylie, Allie, Beth and Colin, and seven great grandchildren, Rhistyn, Teigan, Sloane, Emmry, Rhett, Chloe and Xander.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 19th at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton.  Burial will follow in the Ontario Cemetery.  David will lie in state on Monday at the funeral home, where a visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Tunnel to Towers, Shriner's Hospitals for Children or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 1034, Holton, KS  66436.
