ONAGA - David G. Labbe, 80, of Onaga, passed away Monday, April 11, 2022 at the Community Hospital in Onaga.

He was born September 13, 1941 on the farm in the Neuchatel community, the son of Glenn and Velma Hodge Labbe.  He graduated from Onaga High School in 1959.

Dave worked for the Salina Fire Department for over twenty years, retiring at the rank of Lieutenant.  In the line of duty there, he was credited with saving someone's life.  He then moved back to the Onaga area and farmed with his family.

To say Dave loved sports was an understatement.  He played all sports in high school and was on the undefeated 1958 football team.  He coached both boys and girls basketball at Onaga High School and he refereed ball games for many years.  He also coached American Legion Baseball.

He married Susan L. Kufahl on December 22, 1987 in Seneca. She survives, of the home.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kay Labbe.

Other survivors include three sisters, Kathleen Perry Robichaud (George), Orange, CA, Rita Most (Don), Onaga and Linda Stratton (Bob), Clay Center, and nieces and nephews.

A private memorial service is planned.  Inurnment will be at a later date in the Neuchatel Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the Onaga Ball Association, and may be sent in care of the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, PO Box 312, Onaga, KS  66521.
