Dena Walrod-LaBrecque, 52, of Hoyt, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at University of Kansas Health Systems, St. Francis Campus, in Topeka.

She was born October 24, 1969 in Holton, the daughter of John and Rosalie Baskett Walrod.  She graduated from Royal Valley High School in 1988.

Dena had worked for the State of Kansas since she was eighteen years old, most recently for the Department of Labor.

She married Randy LaBrecque on September 24, 2008 in Topeka.  He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a step-daughter, Bailey Ridgway, Topeka and two sisters, Tena Goehring, Topeka and Gena Addis and her husband John, Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 1 ^st at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Holton.  Burial will follow in the Holton Cemetery.  Dena will lie in state Thursday at the funeral home, where family and friends will meet from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  Memorials are suggested to help with funeral expenses, or to Helping Hands Humane Society, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 1034, Holton, KS  66436.
