Don Wege, 87, of Onaga, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at the Onaga Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born December 29, 1933 the son of Arthur and Gertrude (Dornbusch) Wege, on the family farm southwest of Onaga in the Laclede area. Don attended Rolling Prairie-Laclede Grade School. He farmed and was an excellent conservation farmer. In 1996 he received the 50th year conservation award for his efforts. The farm had been in the family for 80 years. For many years, in addition to his farming operation, he helped neighbors with their farming activities.

After retiring in 2006, he rented the farm for eight years and then sold it, and moved to the Onaga Prairie View Apartments. Later, due to health reasons, he moved to the Onaga Health and Rehabilitation Care Facility.

Don is survived by his cousin, August "Gus" Dornbusch, of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 9th at the Onaga Cemetery. Don will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. The casket will remain closed.
