Dorothy Ellen Barnes, 92, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2024 in Hiawatha, Kansas.

She was born to George and Bertha Wakehouse in Council Bluffs, Iowa on October 20, 1931.  She married Chuck Turpin and they lived in Iowa until his passing.  She met Doyce "Bud" Barnes in California and there were married and they lived in California until 1972 when they moved to Arkansas and lived there until his death.

Dorothy is survived by Kathy Turpin of Fullerton, California; Sharon (Jim) Farris of Hiawatha, Kansas and her grandchildren Britney (Devin) White and CJ Farris; great grandchildren Lily, Jameson & Lucas White; step-children, David Barnes, Dorce Barnes and Debbye Barreda; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two sisters and a brother.

There will be a memorial service at Calvary Temple Saturday September 14 at 1:00 PM.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. prior to services at the church.

She will be laid to rest at Galatia Cemetery in Norfork, Arkansas at a graveside service at 11:00 AM on September 21.  The family will receive friends prior to services at the pavilion starting at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to BGMC, by sending them to Calvary Temple in Hiawatha.
