Evelyn Janette Hamilton was born on April 23, 1935 in Frankfort, Kansas to Joseph and Katherine (Otto) Miller. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 26, 2021.

She met James (Jim) Hamilton of Irving, Kansas, in high school, and they were married on November 28, 1953. They eventually settled in Topeka, Kansas, where Jim worked for Goodyear for 5 years, and then began selling life insurance for American United Life in 1961. Evelyn stayed home and helped raise their 6 children, although she did eventually earn her real estate license and worked in that industry for a time.

Jim and Evelyn's faith was always an integral part of their lives, and they were parishioners of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. They were also founding members of Glory to God prayer group in 1973 and later the Queen of Peace rosary group. They organized and led eighteen pilgrimages to Medjugorje in Croatia to witness the apparitions and miracles taking place in that part of the world.
Evelyn loved time with family as her kids grew up and had kids of their own, and she was fond of playing cards, water-skiing, traveling, and baking the best pies and cakes in the world. She was deeply loved by her family, and her grandchildren spent many happy hours eating her cooking and playing games with her.

Jim and Evelyn were married for 58 years before Jim passed away in 2011. Evelyn was also preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Eugene Miller, LJ Miller (Renee), Mary (Everett) Hamilton, Harold (Geraldine) Miller, a son, Ron Hamilton, and two grandsons, John Paul Holthaus and Timothy Zeller.

Evelyn is survived by five children: Vickie (Allan) Holthaus, Dr. Thomas (Carol) Hamilton, Cynthia (Tim) Hund, Roger (Denise) Hamilton, and Pamela (Wayne) Zeller; 29 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren; her siblings and their families: Paul (Delores) Miller, Ramona (Leo) Langlois, Ralph (Sandy) Miller and Pearl (Ernie – deceased) Raugewitz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at 10:00 AM. Visitation is at 9:00 AM and the Rosary will take place at 9:30 AM before the funeral. After the funeral, burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
