HOYT – Fred Joy, 75, of Hoyt, passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 at his home.

He was born May 27, 1946 in Holton, the son of Max and Marian Overstreet Joy.  He graduated from Hoyt High School in 1964.

Fred was a firefighter with the Topeka Fire Department, retiring at the rank of Captain.  He owned and operated Top Hat Chimney Sweep for twenty-six years.  He was a certified chimney sweep and served on the Board of Directors of the National Chimney Sweep Guild.  He had also been an official for ASA Softball for many years.

He married Barbara Marts on December 1, 1989 in Las Vegas.  She survives, of the home.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Barbara Griffin.

Other survivors include two sons, Terry Joy (Christine), Topeka and Tracy Joy (Holly), Ardmore, OK; four daughters, Tamra Nincehelser (Todd), Topeka, Kimberly Look, Olathe, Julie Goss, Kingdom of Tonga, and Melissa Price (Richard), Sachse, TX; fifteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and his faithful feline companion, Rose.

A Celebration of Fred's Life will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 19 ^th at the Hoyt United Methodist Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Midland Hospice, and may be sent in care of the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, PO Box 280, Hoyt, KS  66440.
