ONAGA – Freda L. Armstead, 68, of Onaga, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022 at her home.

She was born November 11, 1953 in Mobile, Alabama.  Her parents were Dave and Louise Childress, but she was raised by her step-parents, Syd and Myrna Hatchell.

Freda attended the First Baptist Church in Onaga.  She was a member of the Prayer Warriors and Furbabies.

She married Timothy L. Armstead on May 12, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  He survives, of the home.

Freda was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Mike Hatchel and Bill Hatchell.

Other survivors include a son, Will Blanton (Kresta), in Mississippi, two daughters, Dana VanDeventer, Arkansas City, and Robin Hixson, in Georgia, three step-sons, David Armstead, Bartlesville, OK, Scott Armstead (Ann), Charleston, SC, and Anthony Armstead (Cristina), El Dorado, two step-daughters, Rhonda Armstead (Lowell), Wichita and Jennifer Keene (Jason), Bartlesville, OK, three sisters, Alli Barlik (Erik), Marietta, GA, Christine Hatchell, Elgin, SC, and Melissa Brazell, Columbia, SC, twenty-one grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 6th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga.  Burial will follow in the Onaga Cemetery.  Freda will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.  Memorials are suggested to the Kansas Humane Society, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 312, Onaga, KS  66521.
