Gary Lee Wegner, Sr., 76, of Topeka, died Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the Village Villa Nursing Facility in Nortonville.

He was born August 25, 1943 at Onaga, the son of Elroy and Geneva Shehi Wegner. He graduated from Onaga High School in 1961. Gary served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1967. After being discharged from the Navy he received his degree as a Register Nurse from Parkersburg Community College in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

Gary started his nursing career while in the Navy and later worked at many different places including West Virginia, San Diego, Topeka, Onaga and St. Marys.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Gary Lee Wegner, Jr., and his son-in-law, Tim Graf.

Survivors include his companion of eighteen years, Sue Ellerman, of the home; a daughter, Connie Graf, Onaga; a step-son, Kris Ellerman, Topeka; a step-daughter, Laura Debernardin, Independence, MO; one sister, Myrna Wegner, Topeka; ten grandchildren, Mary Ubel, Kenny Graf, Jesse Graf, Matthew Graf, Lilli Ellerman, Jadyn Larson, Trevor Debernardin, Jeremy Russel and Elijah Russel, and four great grandchildren, Kylie, Kenny, Karter, Hazel, and one on the way.

Memorial graveside services with military honors will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 26th at the Onaga Cemetery.
