ONAGA – Gilbert Wegner, 74, of Onaga, passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at the Onaga Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born April 4, 1950, at Onaga, the son of Giltner and Frances Martin Wegner.  He graduated from Onaga High School in 1968.

Gilbert was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church in Onaga, Onaga Masonic Lodge No. 188, A.F.&A.M., Mayetta Masonic Lodge No. 292, A.F.&A.M., the Onaga Senior Center, Onaga Lions Club, Onaga FFA, the Heartland Antique Tractor Club and the Flint Hills Tractor Club.  He was a former member of the Topeka Bass Club and the Onaga Jaycees.

He had worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka for over thirty-five years.

He married Judy Haller on April 4, 1977 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Duluth. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Milton Wendland and husband, Michael Rezayazdi, St. Petersburg, FL, a brother, Vernon Wegner and wife, Janet, Onaga, two nephews, Allan Wegner, Onaga and Robert Wegner and wife, Cori, Silver Lake, two great nieces and two great nephews.

A short service will be held on Friday, December 6th at 6:00 p.m., followed by a Meet and Greet until 7:30 at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga.  Graveside services with Masonic Rites will be on Saturday, December 7th at 10:00 a.m. at the Onaga Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to the Onaga Masonic Lodge No. 188 or the Onaga Senior Center, and may be sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 312, Onaga, KS  66521.
