Glenn A. Hennigan

Glenn Alan Hennigan, 82, of rural Fairview, Kansas, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri, on September 23, 2026, following a brief illness.

Glenn was born on March 8, 1944, in Sabetha, Kansas, to Gerald and Lola (Mishler) Hennigan. He attended school in Fairview and graduated in 1962. He later attended Highland Community College. Glenn was united in marriage to Linda Selman on July 25, 1964, at the First Christian Church in Hiawatha, Kansas. Together, Glenn and Linda raised four children on the family farm.

Glenn was a hard worker who had a vast array of work experiences throughout his life. At just 15 years old, he sold jars of honey from the family farm for $1 a quart. After graduating from high school, he worked at the A.S.C.S. office in Hiawatha. Following his father’s death in 1965, Glenn returned to the family farm and took over the farming operation. Over the years, he also worked at Frontier Homes in Falls City, Quality Oil outside of Fairview, and the Atchison Foundry. He laid floor covering for Stoller’s and later for Merle Gilliland, and he was also a seed corn dealer for Northrup King.

Glenn was truly a man of many talents and was always willing to share his skills, knowledge, and time with others. He had a natural talent for propagating plants and was a lifelong farmer who took great pride in his land and the things he grew. He was especially well known for his four-acre asparagus and rhubarb patch, which became a springtime destination for many people. The asparagus began with just one pound of seed in the late 1980s, and Glenn took great pride in watching it grow and sharing the harvest with others.

Glenn also loved local auctions. He enjoyed both attending auctions and helping with them, and he made many connections through his involvement in the local auction community.

He served for many years on the NM-BR Watershed District Board and was dedicated to supporting the Fairview community. Glenn was always willing to put in extra effort to help the people around him, whether they were neighbors, nieces and nephews, grandchildren, or friends and members of the community. His willingness to lend a hand, share his knowledge, and help others will be remembered by many.

Glenn is survived by his four children: Cindy Lawson of Wakarusa, Kansas; Lori (Troy) Tinklin of Sabetha, Kansas; Jim (Sheila) Hennigan of Highland, Kansas; and Travis Hennigan of Sabetha, Kansas; his sister, Gale (Don) Wells of Lindsborg, Kansas; grandchildren, Eli Lawson, Britney Tinklin, Isaac Tinklin, Colby (Carli) Tinklin, Megan (Matt) Sommers, McKinley Hennigan, Jace Hennigan, Mya Hennigan, Morgan Hennigan, Anna Hennigan, and William Hennigan; and great-grandchildren, Evelynn Tinklin, Vanna Tinklin, Grant Sommers, and Nora Sommers.

Glenn was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; and his parents, Gerald and Lola Hennigan.

A celebration of life service for Glenn will be held at the Fairview Community Building on Sunday, November 15, at 4:00 p.m, followed by a potluck for those who wish to join.
