Gregg Douglas Winslow
Our dearly loved Gregg was born on September 23, 1951, in Hiawatha, Kansas, to the late Albert and Geraldine (Rosenberger) Winslow. He passed away on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at the age of 75.
As a young man, Gregg enjoyed baseball and basketball, and to this day, he still holds the pole vaulting record at Hiawatha High School. He loved working with horses and living on a farm. Gregg spent many years working at his family’s cement plant before pursuing a degree in teaching. He spent his teaching career at several schools before retiring from Farmington, MO, School District in 2013. He was a beloved coach who made a lasting impact on countless young athletes. The strong work ethic he instilled in his students and players continues to be remembered and appreciated today.
On December 29, 1978, Gregg married Dorothy Becker at the First Presbyterian Church in Hiawatha, Kansas. Together, they raised three children: Dusty, Matt, and Sydney. Gregg was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. He loved being a father and sharing his sarcasm, witty remarks, and a bit-too-honest advice with his wife and children. Gregg kept his circle of friends small, so if you were a friend of Gregg’s, you held a special place in his heart.
After retirement, Gregg and Dorothy moved to Tucson, Arizona, where they began a new chapter of life together. Gregg’s favorite moments were those spent with family. He cherished slow mornings around the fire pit, late-night laughs while sharing familiar stories, and time spent playing with his beloved dog, Scotty, who preceded him in death. He also loved playing golf and traveling with Dorothy to National Parks, often setting off on last-minute adventures together. He enjoyed talking Kansas basketball and Chiefs football with his boys and following Nebraska volleyball.
Gregg was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Geraldine Winslow, and his sister, Sharon Gernon.
Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Dorothy, of 47 years; his son, Dusty Winslow, and wife, Candice Winslow, of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; his son, Matt Winslow, and wife, Hannah Winslow, of Greensboro, Georgia; his daughter, Sydney Garr, and husband, Zane Garr, of St. James, Missouri; his sister, Ilene Blum, and Richard Whitaker, of Sahuarita, Arizona; and his beloved grandchildren, Alyena Blankley, Clara Kate Winslow, August Winslow, Tripp Winslow, Blaine Garr, and Harvie Garr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, one of the organizations Gregg felt passionate about supporting.
