Janice Shafer, 84, formerly of Hoyt, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Medicalodges Jackson County in Holton.

She was born August 12, 1938 in Topeka, the daughter of John and Bertha Davidson Rogers.  She was of the Catholic faith.

Janice had worked as a custodian for several schools and hospitals.

She married Vernon Shafer in Topeka.  He died in 1975.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ray Lee Shafer, a grandson, Chad Shafer, a brother, Jim Rogers and a sister, Barbara Wallace.

Survivors include a son, Roy Alan Shafer and wife Shellee, Grantville, a brother, Jack Rogers, two grandchildren, Kayla and Riley, and a great granddaughter, Ellie.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 30th at the Steward Cemetery east of Hoyt.  Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt is in charge of arrangements.
