Jeanette Crystal Urista, Shew In, 64, of Horton, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Amberwell Hospital in Hiawatha.

She was born October 3, 1961 in Holton, the daughter of James and Aletha Jean Masquat Hale.

Jeanette was a member of the Kickapoo Tribe in Kansas and the Drum Religion.

She had worked at different nursing homes as a Certified Nurse's Aide, and for Deffenbaugh Trash Service in Kansas City.  She had also been a caregiver for her Dad.

Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer Marie Hale, of the home, two brothers, LaVerne Hale (Paula), Mayetta and John Hale, Holton, one sister, Rayne Hale, Holton, four grandchildren, Starlene Hale Bland (Gregory), Leondre Hale (Danielle), James Hale and Leonna Hale, six great grandchildren, Nachelle Williams, Israel Hale, Richmond Lewis, Mia Hale, Landyn Hale and Normani Hale, and many nieces and nephews.

A wake service will be held Saturday evening, October 11th at the Dance Ground, west of Mayetta.  Burial will be Sunday afternoon in the Matwe-Shobney Cemetery.
