John H. Kocher, 80, of Onaga, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at his home.

He was born March 15, 1946, in Onaga, the son of Herman and Carrie Schwarz Kocher. He graduated from Onaga High School in 1964 and served in Viet Nam with the U.S. Army National Guard.

John was a farmer and a stockman.

He married Karen McKinsey on May 1, 1965 in Manhattan. She preceded him in death on January 14, 2024.

John was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Kathy Jeanneret.

Survivors include a daughter, Heather Myers (Troy), Topeka, a son, C.J. Kocher (Stephanie), Vermillion, SD, one brother, Marlin Kocher (Judy), Onaga, five grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Janet McKinsey, a niece and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 22nd from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. Following the visitation, family and friends will process to St. Luke South Cemetery for a committal service and inurnment.
