Joseph William Matsapto, 48, of Hoyt, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at his home.
He was born on November 7, 1977 in Topeka, the son of Frank and Rita (Wabaunsee) Matsapto. He graduated from Highland Park High School.
Joseph was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and a former member of the APA Pool League.
He had worked at the Prairie Band Casino in the hotel, the R.V. Park and the gift shop, and was also a cook in the restaurant.
Joseph married Kristina Johnson in 2009 in Hoyt. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Josie Matsapto, Mayetta and Kamryn Matsapto, of the home, his siblings, Frank Matsapto, Jr., in Missouri, Roy Matsapto, in Colorado, Michelle Matsapto, Herrington and Glenn A. Mandeville, Topeka, one granddaughter, Ayanna Matsapto and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 13th at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt. Inurnment will be at a later date in Shipshee Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family requests Chiefs, Royals or Oklahoma Sooners attire be worn to the services.
