HOYT – Karen Hunter, 64, of Hoyt, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.

She was born October 19, 1958 in Topeka, the daughter of Clayton and Verla Parsons Hunter. She graduated from Royal Valley High School in 1976.

Karen had been the Operations Manager at West Ridge Mall in Topeka for thirty years. She had just retired at the first of May.

Karen was known for her love of playing music, antique shopping, painting, and most all, her love for her family, including her Corgi, Gracie, and grand-pups and grand-kitty.

Survivors include her parents, Clayton and Verla Hunter, Hoyt, three daughters, Heidi Young (Greg), Topeka, Katie Sutherland (Ryan), Greeley, CO and Jayme Bausch, Lawrence, two brothers, Chris Hunter, Pensacola, FL and Kirk Hunter, Augusta, a sister, Connie Schaefer, Mayetta; and two grandchildren, Rylan and Harkin.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 22nd at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt. Burial will follow in the Hoyt Cemetery. Karen will lie in state from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
