Larry David Lentz, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on May 6, 2026. He was born on March 21, 1942, in Iowa Point, Kansas, to John David and Mable Edna Louise (Kleckinger) Lentz.

Following high school, Larry proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a radioman. On May 27, 1967, he married the love of his life, Patty. Together they shared 52 years of marriage and built a life centered around family and hard work.

After moving around Kansas throughout the years, Larry and Patty eventually settled in Tonganoxie, Kansas, where they raised their family. Larry dedicated 35 years of service to Kansas Wildlife and Parks, managing the state lake in Tonganoxie until his retirement.

Larry truly loved nature and could often be found fishing, squirrel hunting, mushroom hunting, walking the timber, or bird watching. After retirement, Larry and Patty made their home in White Cloud, Kansas, where he remained active in the American Legion and the Historical Society.

One of Larry's greatest joys in life was becoming a grandfather. He cherished his family and the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Jennifer Lentz and David (Amber) Lentz; his grandchildren, Kyla Cole, Allison (Cody) Winborn, Zachary Lentz, and Jordan (Ashley) Lentz; and his five great-grandchildren, Keegan, Jace, Braxton, Amelia, and Emori. He is also survived by his sister, Dixie (Larry) Zirkle.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Patty; his sister, Patricia (Otto) Benson; his brother, Arthur; and great-grandson Zaden Lentz.

Larry will be remembered for his strong will, quiet pride, and deep love for his family and the outdoors. He was a man who preferred to handle things himself and rarely asked for help, but those who knew him best also knew his kindness, loyalty, and steady presence.

Graveside services with military honors are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Iowa Point Cemetery, with Pastor Rich Lehmkuhl officiating.

Friends may sign the register book from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Highland.
