DEATHS…..HIAWATHA, KS    Marilyn Sue Snyder, of Hiawatha, KS formerly of Manhattan, KS, passed away September 25, 2023 at her home in Hiawatha.  Sue was born June 25, 1935, in Humboldt, Nebraska, to W Roy and Lola Lane Smith.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Robert F. Snyder.

Sue grew up in Sabetha, KS, graduating from Sabetha High School in 1953 and working at Greene Drug Store in Sabetha.  She married Robert on May 2, 1954, and worked as a bookkeeper at Sabetha Co-operative Produce.  Sue and Bob moved to Wymore, Nebraska in 1954 before settling in Manhattan in 1958 where Sue spent the next 50 years.  Sue and Robert raised three girls in Manhattan with Sue working for Cox Communications for 28 years.  Sue moved to Hiawatha in 2008 to be closer to her sisters.

Sue enjoyed sewing, knitting, needlepoint, and crafting.  She was a member of service organizations including Pilot Club when she lived in Manhattan and the Red Hat Society when she moved to Hiawatha.  She had a community of friends in Hiawatha with whom she enjoyed visiting, participating in potlucks, and working on crafts.

Sue is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline (Jose') Garibay of Normal, IL; and Kathleen (David) Ylander of Alliance, NE; son-in-law Kevin Kneisley of Elk City, KS; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren as well as two sisters:  Evelyn Roland of Sabetha, KS, and Marguerite Hiskey Wenger of Hiawatha, KS.  Sue was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter Janice Kneisley, brothers Lee Smith and Max Smith, and sister Vivian Beeghley.

Memorial services will be held at a later date for Sue.
