Mary Ann Olson, 72, of Severance, died late Friday evening, December 9, 2022 at Wathena Healthcare and Rehabilitative Center where she had been a resident June.  She also had been a patient at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph a few times as well.

Mary Ann was born at Huron, Kansas, September 22, 1950, one of three children born to the late Harvey and Marie Hornbeck Akright and had lived in Severance nearly all of her life.  She attended Severance grade school prior to graduating from Midway High School.  Mary Ann later graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1972 from Benedictine College at Atchison.

She spent her working life as a librarian in elementary schools.  After she retired, she substituted for area schools when needed.

Survivors include a brother Jim Akright of Atchison, a niece and nephew.  She was also preceded in death by a sister Virginia "Ginny" Lee in 2015.

Family and friends will gather at the Highland Community Building from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, for a time to remember and celebrate her life.

There will be a private family inurnment at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Troy.
