Patricia Virginia Breitschwerdt, 84, of Palm Springs, California passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 at her home.

She was born November 1, 1938 in Las Animas, Colorado, the daughter of Paul and Helen Hinrichsen Reisinger.  She grew up in Havensville, KS and graduated from Havensville High School in 1957, where she was the head cheerleader and homecoming queen.

Her and her four brothers, Fred, Jerry, Jim and Tim worked very hard on the family farm.  She would tell people about all the farming chores she did growing up and she never complained, unlike today's children.

On June 24, 1957 she married her sweetheart, Darryl Breitschwerdt. After their wedding they moved to California to raise a family.  While living in Compton, California she raised her three children, John Paul, Sandra Kay and David Dean.  She spent many hours late at night sewing her children clothes and sewing doll clothing for the kindergarten class. She helped out a lot at her children's elementary school.

During summer vacations she loved packing up the family and driving back to Kansas to visit with her family.  In 1969 she relocated to Buena Park, California.  She continued helping out in the elementary school until the children were older, then she became a school cafeteria server for many elementary schools.  She had a few other jobs over the years.  She was the lead supervisor for an arrow space company, she worked as a receptionist for a uniform company, and also at Costco, where she enjoyed handing out free samples.

After her husband Darryl had a stroke she took care of him for six years, until he passed away in 2004.  In 2018 her daughter-in-law Bonnie passed away unexpectedly.  One year later her youngest son David, (Bonnie's husband), died of cancer.

After living in Buena Park for fifty-two years she moved to sunny Palm Springs, California to be near her daughter. After only six months there her oldest son John passed away of congestive heart failure. He left his dog Bailey to care for her and they had a wonderful bond. He would never leave her side and has been very saddened by his loss.

She helped raise many children.  Her home and heart was always welcoming to everyone.

All the kids always wanted to play and hang out at Mrs. B's house, (this is what they called her).  She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She will be missed by many.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Breitschwerdt, five grandchildren, David and Bonnie's sons Johnathon, Kyle and Joseph, Sandra's twins, Andrew and Ashley, three great grandchildren, Kyle and Reyna's sons, Kayden and Nathen, and Joseph and Megan's new baby son, Jaxon.

Mass of Christian will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 14th at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in the Havensville Cemetery.
