Phillip J. Wingender, Jr., 55, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at the Stormont-Vail Health Center in Topeka.

He was born June 16, 1968, at Leavenworth, the son of Phillip J. Wingender, Sr. and JoAnn Perry Wingender.  He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Midway in the Gulf War, and was a member of the V.F.W.

Phil had worked in different manufacturing jobs and was also a truck driver, mostly for the U.S. Postal Service.

He married Crystal Dover.  To this union a son Alex was born.  They were divorced.

Phil was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Cynthia J. Wingender, and a niece, Taylor J. Pettitt.

Survivors include his son, Alex Wingender, his mother, JoAnn Wingender, a brother, Michael Wingender (Jennifer), a sister, Barbara Parker (Ed), and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other relatives.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23rd at St. Theresa Catholic Church in O'Neill, Nebraska.  There will be a Rosary prayed at 1:30 p.m.  Burial with military honors will follow the Mass in the church cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to help with Alex Wingender's education, made payable to Barbara Parker.  For checks, please put Alex Wingender Education Fund in the memo line.
