WHEATON – Raymond W. Fischer, 94, of Wheaton, died on Christmas Day, his birthday, Friday, December 25, 2020 at the Stormont-Vail Health Center in Topeka.

He was born December 25, 1926 on the farm at Wheaton, the son of Herman and Lydia Teske Fischer. Raymond graduated from Wheaton High School in 1944. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served with the occupying forces in Germany in 1952.

After serving in the military, he was a farmer and a stockman on the farm where he was born and raised.

Raymond was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Duluth. He was baptized into the Church on February 20, 1927 and confirmed on March 17, 1940. He had held various positions in the Church and was also a member of the Onaga American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Arlo Fischer, and a sister, Lona Matzke Teske.

Survivors include his sister-in-law, Reneta Fischer, Onaga, three nephews, Byron Fischer (Eunice), Omaha, NE, Alan Fischer (Vickie), Wheaton, and Steven Matzke, Bellingham, WA, three nieces, Diana Brunkow (Larry), Duluth, Connie Tarvin (Jeff), Topeka, and Gayle Currie (Lee), Timnath, CO, and many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31st at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Duluth. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery at Duluth. Please wear a mask at the services. Raymond will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga.
