Rose Gertrude Talkington,, 86, of Oneida, passed away with family by her side January 14, 2024, at the home of her daughter Evalyn.

Rose was born one of ten children born to Ira Earl and Flossie Hogaboom Faunce, January 22, 1937 at El Dorado, Kansas.  She was raised in the El Dorado area where she grew up and attended school.

Rose married Florus Talkington June 8, 1958.  They continued to make El Dorado their home where they raised their eight children.  Having come from a large family and raising a large family, Rose was known to be 'sassy' and 'fiesty' all the while taking care of her family while her husband worked.  Rose enjoyed tending to her plants, and enjoyed the grandchildren.  They moved to Oneida in 2001.  He died August 8, 2003.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, son Virgil Talkington, daughter Dora Elaine Talkington, a son in law Dennis Barrett, seven brothers and one sister.

Rose attended on occasion the Oneida Methodist Church.

Survivors include her children:  Jessie Talkington (Rosetta), Rose Ann Scott (Donald), Evalyn Barrett, Doug Talkington, Carrie Talkington, and Patricia Bentley (Terry).  Her sister Carrie Griffith also survives along with 22 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren (and three on the way), and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Cremation is planned with a graveside service planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Burns Cemetery, Burns, KS.
