Sharon Ann Ellis, 69, of Kansas City, MO died peacefully at the St. Luke's Hospice House on May 29, 2024. Born the daughter of Freda Donovan and Maurice Marshall Donovan, she was a 1973 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School in Wilmington, DE, a 1977 graduate of University of Kansas Medical Center in Physical Therapy, then received her Master of Medical Science from Emory University in 1982 before accepting a position as a cardiopulmonary therapist with the St. Luke's Health System. She also founded her continuing education in-services company for physical and occupational therapy in 1993.

She had APTA board certification as a Cardiopulmonary Clinical Specialist CCS since 1988. Other positions and specialist certifications included ACLS certification, BCLS certification, instructional adjunct faculty member at University of Kansas Medical Center, University of Missouri, Rockhurst University, and community colleges.

Sharon's community service was widely appreciated and included volunteer work in local schools, piano accompaniment for high school students in district and state competitions, as well as football/soccer high school boosters, clubs and civic groups.

Her love, devotion, and passion for her family and country knew no bounds. Her ever present smile and good cheer delighted her family and friends by her very presence. Her favorite activities were loving and supporting her children and grandchildren, traveling with her husband John ("Chip") Ellis especially to Ireland and Scotland, and attending KU athletic events.

She is survived by her husband John A. Ellis, son Dane M. Broadie (Kelli), son Scott W. Coffman (Haylee), daughter Amy S. Kellner (Lance), sisters Maureen D. Carman (William) and Carole D. Pugh (James), grandchildren Sloane, Delaney, Milena, and Blake, aunt Treva Mumaw, cousins, nieces, nephews, and former husband John Coffman. Preceding her in death were her former husband John Broadie, her mother and father.

Sharon's family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the caring St. Luke's Hospice staff.
